Date of this status report: May 2010:

The Waste Tyre Regulation (WTR) was Gazetted by DEA on 13 February 2009.

The date on which the WTR will become effective is 30 June 2009.

The Integrated Waste Tyre Management Plan was sent to stakeholders, and comments has been taken into account.  The Plan has been published for public comment by DEA during 5 March -5 April 2010 .

Tenders for the transport of waste tyres can be issued as soon as DEA gazettes the Plan.

Tenders for the processing of waste tyres can be issued after gazetting of the Plan.
