Load Index

The load index is a numerical code imbedded on a tyre sidewall that indicates the load carrying capacity of the tyre at the speed indicated by its speed symbol under service conditions specified by the tyre manufacturer, and with the tyre inflated to the maximum specified pressure.

Conversion Chart

Various tyre sizes can fit the same rim.  The conversion chart indicates the possible substitutes. These are for guidance only. Refer to the tyre manufacturer for final confirmation.

Speed Symbols

The speed symbol of a tyre indicates the certified top speed at which the tyre can carry a load under service conditions specified by the tyre manufacturer.

Tyre Measurements

International standards exist for markings on tyres. This includes the tyre size, speed rating and load index. Other safety information is also provided on the sidewall of a tyre, such as maximum pressure and date of manufacture.

The aspect ratio, that appears as part of the size marking, indicates the sidewall height of a tyre expressed as a percentage of the tyre section width. See attachment below.
