Tyre dealers who are supplied with tyres by tyre producers being subscribers to the SATRP Company will be relieved of those brands of waste tyres once the official collection process starts. A specific waste tyre collecting company will be allocated to a specific dealer to collect waste tyres of the subscribers to the plan from a specific GPS registered site.

 

Please see the Waste Tyre Regulation and Management Plan for details. Tyre categories are defined as per the international standard "The European Tyre and Rim Technical Organisation" (ETRTO).

 

Current subscribers are: 

A1 Wheel & Tyre, Apollo Tyres, BB Ultra Tyres, Bridgestone, Chrysler SA, Close-Up Deals, Continental, Dodds Trading & Services, Expectra, General Motors, Hyundai, Imperial Daihatsu, Iveco, Jaguar-Land Rover, LFK Import & Export, Ling Long Tyres, Goodyear, Maxiprest, Michelin, Pirelli Tyres, Southern African Tyre Distributors, Sovereign Retreaders, Subaru SA, Tandem Tyres, Toyota Tsusho Africa, Trapeace, Trentyre and Tyrecor. Other subscribers are being registered an a daily basis.

 

Tyre Category Collections:-

Phase one is planned as

Category one – Passenger, light commercial and heavy commercial tyres supplied for; licensed highway vehicles with rim sizes 8” to 24.5” and an outside diameter of less than 48.5”.

Collection of waste tyres in this first category will start not later than twelve months after the date of approval of this Integrated Industry Waste Tyre Plan by the Minister of DEA.

Additional categories and phase in times

The SATRP Company will add  to the collection process one additional category of tyre per annum. Various categories will actually require very different procedures.
